Nadalokal welcomes Lau Lukkarila a choreographer and performer born in Oulu, Finland. They studied theatre and contemporary dance in Finland and Spain between 2008-2013. Since 2016 they are based in Vienna. Lau is interested in the presence of an emotional body in the act of dancing and performing.
During her resdnecy Lau will focus on Capricorn Rising a research in dialogue with her mother, a conversation between an adult child and their primary caretaker about limitations, worry, sensual and practical satisfactions and the joy of dancing. Research goes on 2021-2023.
In 2018 they received the Austrian Federal Chancellor’s Office’s START scholarship for music and performing arts as well as the danceWEB Scholarship at ImPulsTanz Festival. In 2019 Lau performed the solo work Trouble at Rakete Festival in Tanzquartier Wien and in 2020 the solo NYXXX at imagetanz with brut Wien. They have published two internet EP’s under LAUX (Schoßhund): Superlike (2019) and HUFKLANG (2020). In 2020-2022 Lau is part of the Freischwimmen, an international production platform for performance and theatre where they work on a collaboration under the title kneading to the 3rd millennia. They have worked e.g. with Keith Hennessy (US) & Peaches (US/DE), Marta Navaridas (ES/AT), Michael Turinsky (AT), Veza Fernández (ES/AT), Karin Pauer & Aldo Giannotti (AT), Berivan Sayici (AT), Franziska Kabisch (DE/AT), Magdalena Fischer (AT), Alison Kopit (US), Be Hope Heintzman (CA), Kaaos Company (FI), Hanna Brotherus (FI) and Reality Research Centre (FI).
