NadaLokal is excited to host dancer and choreographer Akemi Takeya this week at our Artist in Residence. She will be working on her ongoing project „LEMONISM x ACTIONISM“. In collaboration with video artist Michael Loizenbauer she will also try out possibilities of live online streaming of performance art.

In her rhizomatic performance series „LEMONSIM“ Akemi Takeya focuses on the body as material of “the I” including 72 items. Following the principle „LEMONISM x the ISM“. Takeya puts various „Kunstisms“ – „isms“ of different artistic movements – under a performative investigation by adapting, paraphrasing, deconstructing and confronting them with her very unique concept of „LEMONISM“. The lemon becomes a metaphor and a vessel for transformation itself.

After the kick-off of the series with the performance „LEMONISM x ACTIONISM“ at ImPulsTanz festival 2015 and at ORF Long Night of the Museums, Akemi Takeya continues to research at nadaLokal on forms of expression of the several „isms“ connected to art. The residency will intensify her investigation into dadaism, minimalism, surrealism and constructivism. In collaboration with the video artist Michael Loizenbauer she will also try out possibilities of live online streaming of performance art. <<< back
